What is bio-ecological building?
The bio-ecological ideology is that of the Organic ideology but with a big difference: it does not mean necessarily that it shaped organically. Both ideologies are an ‘holistic’ vision. Sustainable building is more than just recycling of materials, energy efficient building or the installation of solar panels. We look to build both from an environmental and a health perspective. Hence the term ‘ bio ‘ – ‘ ecological ‘, with minimal adverse effects on the quality of our health and the environment.
With the added concern of organic shaping, we also include the process of the organic. This includes the deeper layers of the human ability.
The aspects that are often forgotten or neglected in our modern society. We see that sustainable things (like an antique piece of furniture, for example ) have lasted ages … Why? Because it is built with “love” and respect.
One may relativate this, and disagree that things in the past were always done this way. But do we today actually understand and appreciate the immense patience and ability to create something from scratch. Have you ever tried making a piece of furniture from tree to product? We do not regard this today seeing we take all the processes (that are today mechanised) for granted. But materials can also be “fed” by our own attention and love. Enabling the object to be transcends from the material. Though we cannot ignore the degree of necessary mechanisation today, but it is important that we continue to respect a healthy balance between both the mechanical and the human heart. Otherwise where would man be without the heart?
